Who am I?

I am Thomas Grønvoll, a game and literary scholar with a focus on videogames as narratives and art forms. I work as an industry and communications advisor at Vestnorsk Filmsenter. (All opinions expressed here are my own personal and professional views, and do not represent my employer.) Previously, I established Kulturtanken's Spillab (Game Lab) and hosted Spillprat (Game Talk) — a series of conversations about videogames as art and culture.

I wrote my master's thesis on narratives in videogames at the University of Oslo and have lectured on narrative theory and design for game development students. I also give talks on videogames as art and cultural expression, and run the artzine Critical Reflection, about videogames as art.

I co-wrote both Spillerom - dataspillstrategi 2020-2022, and Tid for spill - regjeringens dataspillstrategi 2024-2026..
